William T. Flynn
Managing Attorney, Newburgh Office

William Flynn manages the intake unit and the daily operations of the Newburgh Office of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV). He began his position as Managing Attorney of the Newburgh Office in October of 2006. Mr. Flynn joined LSHV in December of 2004 as a staff attorney in the Community Support Services Unit representing individuals with mental illness in a wide range of legal issues. He had previously worked for LSHV as a Staff Attorney in 2000, when it was Westchester Putnam Legal Services.

Prior to his work with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, he worked at Gay Men’s Health Crisis as a Staff Attorney for three years. While in law school, he interned for the Center for Constitutional Rights, and the Hon. Deborah Batts, U.S. District Court Judge (SDNY) and received the Dr. M.L. Henry, Jr. Summer Judicial Fellowship. He received the 2004 Service Award from the NY State Division of Human Rights for representing New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS in discrimination cases before the Division. This was the first time that this award had been given to an attorney.

Mr. Flynn is a frequent speaker and presenter on AIDS and Disability. Mr. Flynn graduated from City University of New York Law School in 2000, and received his B.A. from State University of New York at New Paltz. He grew up in Monroe, New York, in Orange County.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Lesbian & Gay Law Association of Greater New York, and serves on The Special Committee on Alcohol and Substance Abuse of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
