Deputy Director

Lewis G. Creekmore became the Deputy Director of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) in October 2003. He manages the daily operations of the organization which include: contract and case management, program planning and development, litigation, community relations, government relations, oversight of intake, supervision of attorneys and managers, regulatory compliance, and community outreach/training programs. Mr. Creekmore joined LSHV in April, 1999 as director of the Housing Unit. Less than a year later, he became managing attorney for the newly-opened Yonkers office. In its first year, the Yonkers office opened over 2000 cases for individuals and families. His work in Yonkers also solidified a relationship with the City of Yonkers which brought funding to the organization and paved the way for an organization office in the City of Newburgh.

Mr. Creekmore worked previously as the Director of the Housing Unit for Queens Legal Services Corporation in New York City (after six years as a staff attorney there) where he supervised the homelessness prevention unit. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for both the Westchester Hispanic Coalition and the Croton Housing Network.

He is active in the New York State Bar Association as a member of the Legal Aid Committee and of the Public Interest Committee of the Real Property Section. He is also Co-Chair of the Orange County Pro Bono Action Committee, and a member of the Westchester County Pro Bono Action Committee, both of which have very successfully recruited local members of the private bar to represent and assist people with legal problems on a volunteer basis. He is also a member of the National Legal Aid and Defenders Association, having presented workshops at national conferences on Re-Entry issues and Pro Bono development.
