Credit Card Contributions :: We now accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards, and payments from PayPal accounts.

Pledged Contributions :: If you would like to divide up your pledge over a period of time, we would be happy to facilitate that process for you. Pledges can be made monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually. We would be pleased to send you reminder notices if you would like.

Gifts of Stock :: Gifts of appreciated securities can provide donors with excellent tax advantages, as there are no capital gains taxes on the appreciation.

Matching Gifts :: Many corporations match their employee’s charitable contributions. This is an excellent way to double or triple your gift! Current and retired employees and their spouses may be eligible at many companies. Your Human Resources office will have the necessary forms to apply, if you work for a Company with this program.

Memorial/Tribute Contributions :: If you would like to honor or to memorialize someone through a contribution to Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, we would be delighted to help you. We will send an acknowledgement letter to the person or family you wish to honor, letting them know you have made a contribution. The amount of your gift is not mentioned. If you are interested in making such a gift, please give us your name, address, and phone number and let us know the name of the person or people being honored or memorialized, and the name and address of the person or family who is to receive an acknowledgment letter.

Foundation and Corporate Giving :: Many of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley’s program are supported by generous contributions from foundations and corporations. There are many important programs that need funding in the areas of housing, elder law, benefits, children’s advocacy, domestic violence, protection and advocacy for the developmentally disabled, and legal advocacy.

Planned Giving :: Planned Giving is a technique that can allow you to make a meaningful charitable gift that benefits the long term financial strength for Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, while obtaining significant tax advantages. There are many vehicles that can be used. Some of the most popular ones are:

Bequests - A bequest is when you put Legal Services of the Hudson Valley in your will and designate a portion of your estate or a specific gift to them.

Life Insurance - You can designate Legal Services of the Hudson Valley the beneficiary or co-beneficiary of a life insurance policy, which can provide charitable deductions for your estate.

Life Income - There are several types of Life Income Instruments. Contributors benefit by receiving valuable income provided by the capital involved for the life of the trusts. Some of the instruments are remainder trusts, lead trusts, unitrusts and annuity trusts.

Property - Gifts of appreciated property can provide your estate with a deduction for the full market value and avoid costly capital gains taxes.

Please note that the above information on planned giving is not intended to replace tax advice. Please consult with your professional advisor when considering making a charitable planned gift.
