Domestic Violence and Family Law At Legal Services for the Hudson Valley (LSHV), we are committed to ensuring the safety of women and children. LSHV works with victims of domestic violence in civil legal proceedings in local family courts, including family offense custody, visitation and child support. Legal representation :: Many low-income families are unable to secure the legal assistance necessary to resolve critical family issues. We represent victims of domestic violence in family offense proceedings and help them obtain orders of protection in family court. Kinship/Foster Care :: Our family law attorneys work to expedite foster care placements, secure early care stipends, obtain medical and educational services for children and provide legal assistance to family and foster parents wishing to adopt children already in their home. Referrals and counseling :: Domestic violence and other family conflict can be traumatic to children as well as adults. To ensure the safety and health of Hudson Valley’s women and children, we provide referrals to shelters and counselors as needed.
