LSHV welcomes a new class of Pro Bono Scholars, who will spend their last semester of law school volunteering with the organization. Leonard Cohen (right) and David Powers (center) will be working out of the Yonkers office, and Deanna DiCaprio joins us in White Plains.
The Pro Bono Scholars Program, announced in 2014 by then-Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, is the first of its kind in the country. This initiative allows law students to devote their last semester of study to performing pro bono service for the poor through an externship program, law school clinic, legal services provider, law firm or corporation. In return for providing much-needed assistance to disadvantaged individuals and families, pro bono scholars gain valuable experience in the profession and learn first-hand the importance of public service.
